Chive Talkin' Menu Plan Blog Roll - Week of 5/18/2009

Welcome to another week at the Chive Talkin' Menu Plan Blog Roll!  Thanks so much for visiting and for joining in with your menu plan.  Please feel free to make comments and suggestions.  I would love to hear from you!  Don't forget to keep checking back as menu plans are added.

Thank you all for the fish ideas for the fish tacos that DH requested!  We settled on trying tilapia first.  I am looking at a few recipes to decide exactly which one appeals to DH, since he has had them before and I have not.  Should be very interesting!  But, I love adventures in cooking.  It's all about having fun, trying new things and yes, making some mistakes along the way.  Obviously, I am not a professional chef...but I love food and I love to experiment.  So, I always say, here comes something (or there goes nothing!)

We did get to the local Farmer's Market on Saturday.  I bought some free range organic brown fertile eggs.  That's it.  That's about all they had besides some plants, soaps and baked goods.  The early markets in my neck of the woods are sparse to say the least.  Summer brings more bounty around here and I do look forward with anticipation to each coming weekend to see what's growing.  Thankfully, I did make it to my favorite market...Whole Foods.  I picked up some wonderful fruits and veggies to round out the meals.  You might notice lemons are somewhat of a theme this week.  Just turned out that way, I guess.

Well, we decided not to have the garage sale last week.  Which was a good thing, because I was not ready.  I wanted to take my time, organizing each room and spring cleaning as I went along.  So, that said, I got a lot done and the garage sale is on for this week.  So, this week has to be another easy menu plan and I am all about E-Z.

So, here's the plan:

Monday - Grilled (or baked) Tilapia Tacos with Red and Green Cabbage Slaw...homemade Guacamole and Salsa on the side...oven baked Sweet Potato Fries...Mango Jimaca Salad with Red Onions and Cilantro.

Tuesday - Whole Wheat Pasta with White Beans, Greens (Kale and Swiss Chard), Sun-dried Tomatoes, fresh Basil, Lemon, Pine Nuts and Parmesan Cheese...Mediterranean Chopped Salad which surprisingly will not have chickpeas (garbanzo beans) or feta cheese this time...LOL...It will have Peppers, Tomatoes, Zucchini, Red Onion and Flat-leaf Parsley all chopped up on a bed of Romaine leaves drizzled with a simple Vinaigrette.

Wednesday - Grilled Steak...Broccoli with Lemon, Garlic and Parsley...smashed Potatoes...sautéed mixed Mushrooms.

Thursday - Salad Night - Homemade Caesar Salad...Artisan Bread...fresh Fruit Salad.  I may also make some Deviled Eggs or Egg Salad with Green Olives...That combination really appeals to me...What is that about???

Friday - It's Friday and it's POW (Pizza of the Week) Night!  Oh, we are getting take out this week all right.  We really enjoy Papa Murphy's Gourmet Vegetarian.  So, we'll get half of that and half Red Sauce Cheese and Mushroom for the kiddos.   I have a feeling I will be exhausted from the garage sale and with the holiday weekend ahead.  I will be ready to just chillax with a super cold Bell's Oberon Ale with an Orange twist - my current beer of choice.

Speaking of the holiday weekend... We will be at a horse show out of town all day Sunday.  I will try to post my menu plan Sunday evening when we return.  It might not happen until Monday morning.  I may be really good and get it posted late  Saturday evening.  In any case, I am pretty sure we will be grilling Monday.  That's just the way it is around here...Memorial Day = Grilling.  What about you?

Eat well - Cheers!

Fellow Foodie Friends, please join me by linking your blog menu plan via Mr. Linky on Sunday evenings.  I usually have my menu plan up by 9pm...  If you're not ready until Monday evening... No worries, just please do it!  Let's inspire one another.

***** Please don't forget to link back here so that everyone can explore all the menu plans.  Thanks!!! **** Don't turn me into an annoying nag... just link back...already!  LOL
